Something nasty in the woodshed
Calling @First Aspect to the thread. I'm not that fussed as the SNP are now an electoral irrelevance, but FA enjoyed being an expat in Scotland.

Scroll back a bit - he's been all over it like a rash!

Your terminology may be give some insight into the things he really didn't seem to like about Scotland, or Scots - despite being born & brought up in England, I'd never describe myself as an 'expat'.

I've.writtem about 10000 words on the subject today.

In other news, Peter Murrell, ex hubbie of Turgid and the guy who ran the SNP finances and allegedly embezzled a whole truck load today has been granted legal aid.

Neither would I. It's a joke. Welcome to the internet.

I know, but it's always good to hear it again.

It will all fall back on her trying to find another £5bn, when there isn't a solution that doesn't involve either pïssing off the electorate, business or the financial markets

Their downfall started before they were even elected with their stupid promise not to increase any of the major taxes while promising a lot. Looking more and more like a rookie leftie mistake.

They should have promised to do more with lower taxes, whilst making unfunded cuts on their way out the door.

Take Ireland for example: similar population, open borders with the UK, doing ok financially.

That took about 7 decades though. When I first went to Ireland in 1986 it was like going back in time 20 years crossing the border. I absolutely loved it there and still do but it only really started to thrive as a modern economy in the 90s (and probably with a lot of EU assistance).

I think that was one of FA’s points, that being Ireland etc. isn’t necessarily going to happen overnight and that the SNP perhaps aren’t giving an honest assessment of the processes and challenges that going independent will entail. From a distance they seem to be arguing that if Scotland becomes independent everything will stay the same unless they want things to change and they’ll have the power to do that out of Westminster’s clutched which seems very simplistic.
