My old Citroen started to falter at 187,000 miles and 12 years old. The new one is now seven years old and has just got to 28,000. I have no plans to change it.

At the rate I'm going, my Almera will be struggling to get to 100,000 miles by the time it's 30 years old.

Did you stop?

On my old Clio, I remember 100000, 111111, and 123456. Was gutted it rusted out 8000 miles before 200000.

I noticed it just before I was going to stop anyway. I'd have been gutted if it had turned over before I stopped! 😂
Next target, 234567. 😉 Although unlikely at a rate of 2322 in 4 months. Another 16 years apparently making the car 26. 🤔

I probably oughtn't to point out that by that time you'll be on a regular eye test regime to make sure that you are eligible to keep your driving licence (and that you can see the odometer).

Tempus fugit too fugging quickly. When I got my licence in 1981, 2034 seemed like a science fiction date.

Looking on the bright side when that day comes. No more car purchases, MOTs, insurance, assistance, servicing or fuel. Plus a bus pass, minted.
I’ve done the cost analysis in the past. I’d be cheaper getting a taxi than running a car. But convenience is a factor, while you can.

My dad's first Renault 4, bought in 1974, only had a 5 figure counter. By the time he sold it on in 1988 the counter had gone round twice, about 220000km IIRC. I wonder how far it went after that, as I remember seeing it around in the mid 90s.

I could only afford a car that did miles in 1974. Kms were only for fancy foreign cars.
