FIFA have already chosen the shirts to be worn in the group stages.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c89340zzd9go

A total of 108 strips, excluding those worn by goalkeepers, have been released by the 48 teams.

both Ghana and Uzbekistan will not wear their home shirts for any of their group-stage matches.

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Curacao, DR Congo, Iran, Ivory Coast, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Senegal and South Africa will not wear their away shirts in any of their three matches.

Might seem like a trivial thing, but this really annoys me.

There's no reason Ghana couldn't wear their home kit against Panama, who could wear either their home or third kit without issue, for example.

No sh!t... People will still buy them, but stopping a team playing in a kit for no apparent reason is ridiculous.
People will buy slightly more of the ones in the matches they are worn in when the team wins. The players are just advertising hoardings. There will contractual terms with the kit manufacturers requiring the kits to be worn in a given number of games, regardless of whether the home kits clash or not.

I don't know why any of this comes as a surprise to you. You are simply shouting at the sea.

It doesn't. You've missed my point, but never mind.

That is pure cringe. WTF is this Scottish exceptionalism wrt to International Footie?
(yes, I'm hurt, in a previous life in the forces, Scotts would have open season to buy and wear England's opponents shirts, but we were expected to support them - which we did 😂 fml)
