Is Twitter such an important 'thing ' then?

To too many people...yes.

Musk considered it important enough to consider throwing €billions at it.

It should be less. You need to be affluent to buy a Tesla. If it was a budget car I am sure regulation would be far higher.

As to twitter, under Musk you certainly get change. Saying that, I have doubts Musk ever wanted to buy twitter.
Is it really his thing?

If you ignore the unpleasant side (which is fairly easy to do) it's a good medium for conversation, and also for bodies that want to post public announcements to a wide audience (road or rail disruption, extreme weather, etc. - I send out announcements for Audax UK for instance).

Yes that makes perfect sense. Wealthy people are famous for buying dodgy stuff that might be dangerous. It's only when it's available to the working classes that they bring in rules around safety.

It's just always been the way. Those coal mines were dangerous as heck when the high paid owners had to dig out the coal but were made completely safe once they employed laborers to do the mining. Construction is another one. The Saudis are famous for the amount of health and safety work they do to ensure their lowest paid employees are safe.

Only in the sense that newspapers, radio and TV are important.

Actually I think it's probably more important. It has huge instant reach. News can quickly grow and be reported on world wide thanks to Twitter (regardless of whether or not it is true).

I agree. There’s also a relationship between broadcast and social media that mirrors the link between broadcast and print in that there is both feedback and amplification. Entities that are able to steer and control the zeitgeist become very powerful.

You seem to miss the point. FSD is still very much in beta. Rich on the whole are wider disciplined and more likely to drive responsibly.
In the UK electric scooters are illegal. The legal rental schemes are not cheap and serve a similar purpose.

Just had a quick google and it appears 19 million people in the UK have a twitter account, I guess it is quite popular.

Only the FSD Beta programme is in Beta. That's why its's called the FSD Beta Programme. Once a change has been tested in the Beta programme it is then scheduled for release to people who aren't in the Beta programme. I mean we all know that Beta programmes are famous for sending stuff out that kills people. That's why almost everyone enrolled has died.

No - wait a second... out of 160,000 people enrolled in the FSD Beta Programme I think pretty much all of them are still alive. I'm fairly certain that if they all started crashing, people would start to opt out.

Sometimes - Tesla only roll out a change to a small number of drivers in the Beta programme, before expanding the Beta.

Of course. Rich people are much better than poor people.

Blimey. £3.25 for a 15 minute journey. I'd better start saving now - or I could sell my solid gold toilet.

It is, but it's subject to the same issues as other outlets in that Twitter control the narrative by banning users who post stuff they don't agree with, but allow others who post obnoxious stuff to remain. eg. they happily allow users to have MAP (minor attracted person) in their profile, and allow porn to be posted.

People were concerned that under Musk it would become an unregulated free for all, perhaps not realising that there's grim stuff on there already, it's just that Twitter endorse it.
