Did big corporations divest themselves of the Nazi party in 1930s Germany?

They divested themselves of trades unions and workers' rights. It worked for them for a while.

A while is all they are concerned about… depending on what they can get done in that while.

The world is not at all what it was like in the 30s. TUs are not what they were then and workers in the US especially, seem to be more concerned about pay and costs than rights.

Wonder if Musk is now going to do for the US what he's done to Twitter ie turn in into a cesspit full of bile worth a fraction of what he paid for it not long ago (US$44bn -> US$19 bn?).

Not the best analogy. Hitler was a career politician rather than a business man. I'm not aware of him sponsoring or being associated with the sales of any products, other than swastika armbands and sales of those went through the floor after a few short years.

You are being a bit literal. Musk is now both a businesses and a politician, and the point I made was that in other fascist regimes big businesses did not try to distance themselves from fascist figureheads.

But equally, perhaps they didn't need to?

You asked 'would they'. I said 'no precedents for this'. In an age devoid of fast social universal communication, no, they probably didn't need to, and large state orders meant they didn't want to.

Apparently Elon is "furious" that his Wikipedia page refers to his Nazi salute and a Nazi salute

He has said that Wikipedia should be "defunded" - not exactly sure that this means what he thinks it means

anyway - that reminded me - I have not donated anything to Wikipedia for quite a while -

so I went right off and did so

and if lots of other people do the same then I'm sure Elon will recognise this as a statement by the member of the public and a very valid form of free speech

or it might just really piss him off

so - anyway - anyone wants to do so just search for "Wikipedia donate"
I couldn;t find an obvious like on their home page - which was also a refreshing difference to a lot of sites!!

If he doesn't like it maybe he shouldn't have done it? He chose to do it and if he's so stupid as to not realise what he did maybe he shouldn't be pushing AfF in Germany for their next Government.

He portrays himself as some kind of genius so we believe him and assume he knows what he did and its meaning. OK, in truth I don't believe he's any kind of genius rather he's other end of that spectrum but some think sunshines out of his ...
