Good news!

Trump sais going to bring everyone together in peace, stop all the killing, and solve the world problems.

Why didn't he say that before?? I may have misjudged him!

Just watching something on the telly where his family are saying it will be "Scorched Earth" when (!) he gets back in

and his campaign has been called the revenge tour

so I presume the stopping all the killing and peace and World Peace will start once all his enemies have been eliminated

apparently "This country belongs to us
The People own this country not THEM!!!!

not sure who "The People" includes
or who THEM includes

probably not the "Radical Left" - ins pit of the Radical Left including a lot of US citizens
at least citizens at the moment

@BoldonLad you laugh, but I've met a few of this lot through work, and the way they've become loonier and loonier over the years is fecking scary. They really do wish for a country run like Gilead.

The reason I asked about his position on Israel, is that I seem to remember him campaigning on SAVING tax money* by staying out of foreign conflicts with no US benefit. I can't find evidence of which wars in particular he cares about - perhaps his term was one of the less warring periods in US history so he dodged difficult decisions?

*and presumably young American lives!

Didn't trump move the Usanian Embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem which IIRC caused a bit of a kerfuffle at the time....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embassy_of_the_United_States,_Jerusalem#:~:text=The Embassy opened at its,Consulate in the Arnona neighborhood.

There was also the appalling Taliban deal.

Yes, same here, have worked in USA, and, grandchild born there. Most “natives” I met were just fine, but, I did meet a few loons. They seem to be more extreme, if the are nice, they are very very nice, and, if they are loons, they are very very loony. 😊

Reports from the E Jean Carroll defamation hearing suggest Trump's lawyers are not doing themselves or their client any favours.
On the first day, Boris Ephsteyn, Trump's personal attorney/fixer post Michael Cohen, stood up to speak, and was promptly told by the judge to sit down, when he disclosed he was not certified to appear in the Manhattan Federal court.
Neither is Alina Habba doing much better. For two days she has been disrespecting the judge, not following the rules of evidence and is seemingly incapable of understanding that when Judge Kaplan makes an order, that is the end of the discussion.
Some of it will be performative with her client in the room, but some smacks of incompetence. Which given the screwups she made before the hearing started, could have been anticipated.
Trump also has had clashes with the judge, despite him not even being called to the witness stand.

Elsewhere, The Lincoln Project has struck back at Trump, blending Trump's claim to be God's caretaker, with his dictator comments.

Donald Trump took one step closer to the White House this week with an easy victory in the Iowa caucuses. Our cover in the Americas, Britain and Europe explains what corporate America thinks about that prospect. The answer is that many CEOs fear a second Trump term would be worse than the first. Businesses often say that what they fear most is uncertainty. With Mr Trump that is guaranteed.

The only saving grace is there was a low turnout, with Trump securing only 13% of registered Republican voters.

Once upon a time, evangelicalism was well connected to religion. These days it has that Taliban religious feel, at least in the states.

Christianity should be supportive of socialism and a shared society.
In the US Christians are very much only out for themselves. With a fear of anything shared for the greater good.

They are within the framework of their religion so that those whom they help stay loyal to they circle or should i say indebted?

that in general is an tendency you see with every religion, it;s just that in Europe religion got far less influence which in turn resulted in more freedoms(for now) and as a side effect better health care.
Most crazy thing is what Bernie Sanders said years ago when he was running for president(which he eventually lost from Biden) is that the us doesn't have to change anything other than make deals on medicine just as we in europe do, as now us citizens pay the full price, which leads to common painkillers like paracetamol etc. to be much cheaper but anything a bit lower in demand to skyrocket in price.

yeah but the other one stepped out of the voted and started supporting Trump (which was probably his plan al along ) So not much of a silver lining imo
