I can't edit ^^^^, but the appeals court also appears mindful of Trump's delay tactics. The justices have given him until the 12th of February to appeal to the Supreme Court, otherwise the case gets remitted back to Judge Chutkan.
Although the period of time the appeal court justices have sat on releasing the decision, means the original hearing date set by Judge Chutkan has slipped. So it looks like Alvin Bragg's prosecution of the hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, will now be the first case

It appears Trump's former chief financial officer Alan Weisselberg may be the cause of the delay in issuing a decision by Judge Engoron, in Trump's civil fraud damages case.
Judge Engoron has issued an email to Counsel asking for responses to be provided to him by 5pm Wednesday, about the perjury claims/plea deal discussions recently made public.

If the allegations are true, financially this could hit Trump really hard.

I saw somewhere that the overarching problem is if the Supreme Court were to rule in favour of Trump, it gives carte blanche for any President to be a dictator. It's no longer a problem for him to invite people he doesn't like into the White house and shoot them - Presidential Immunity. Launch a nuke - Presidential immunity etc.

One of the judges put a similar argument to Trump's Counsel during the hearing and he argued Trump would have to be impeached by the Senate first before being prosecuted.

The other thing to note is that Trumps pardon pledges also mean he cannot run. Even if they rule he is not

It would be laughable if it wasn't so bloody serious. Trump is more and more barking as each day goes on. Nikki Haley's hanging-on in the hope that Trump is either imprisoned, sectioned or assassinated before polling day.

Too late. They have had all this time to see how things were going, to persuade Biden that he needed to go for the sake of the party and to find someone able to step in but have done nothing. To do so now would smack of desperation and be leapt upon by Trump as a sign that he was right all along about "Sleepy Joe".

Unless there is some as yet unknown candidate in the wings (and probably not Harris) then they are stuck with Biden and that will definitely lose them many votes because of his increasingly confused performances. Whether those losses will be nullified by the Republican voters turned off by Trump's performance is unclear but it will make the election closer than it needs to be.

I was amazed at the last election that these two were the "best" that a nation the size of the US could come up with, and that goes with spades this time around.
