Yet more Tory sleaze….

Will Quince, Children's Minister, who was sent on the media round on Monday with a false prospectus about Pincher, has resigned.

I heard him on the Today programme on Monday and thought he sounded one of the more measured members of the government.

His resignation letter states he his going for having repeated the untruths fed to him and doing so as a matter of honour.

I think he found himself in a jam....

It's been suggested that Johnson has weeks left if he doesn't resign (he won't unless he is forced to). It seems likely that the elections to the 1922 committee will be won by ministers supporting the motion to change the rules about votes of no confidence. Then there will be a vote of no confidence. If they want to survive they need to clean the Augean stables. Appoint a PM that isn't known and let them bring out a cabinet of better quality minister from the back benches. Change direction, fix the trade issue with Europe etc.

The risk to the Tories is if Parliament trigger a vote of no confidence.

Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
As funny as watching the Conservative party essentially essentially throw grenades at itself, I am genuinely concerned about what it means for the country. This is political and economic damage on a level I've never witnessed.

Oh, we're all well and truly farked. But we already knew that and have done for a while so might as well have a laugh about it.

Nadhim Zahawi, has been doing the media rounds today where he has been putting the blame that we have a clusterfark of a government on.... Alastair Campbell....

It must have been a thought out attack line because Zahawi has been repeating the almost exactly the same phrases about Campbell on every interview.

I think he may have forgotten that the Tories have been in power for over a decade. Or possibly believes that Campbell has magical powers that can command senior government ministers to resign.

So assuming he gets ousted in the end or by running out of ministers to replace, what happens then? a tory leadership contest other general elections? something else?
