They've found a 5-person lifeboat!
Rumours that Gove is pressing for Johnson to resign rather than fight it out.
And Liam Fox seen entering the cabinet office presumably either to take a new role or tell Johnson to F off.
Didn't the Tories learn anything from when they became unelectable for years because of sleaze ?
The answer is of course no, learning is for lefties.
Who'd have thought that Mogg's drive for government savings would result in removing 15* ministers from the payroll!
*I no longer know what the number is.
According to the rules (as they stand today) there cannot be another leadership election for a year, but what would happen if more than 50% of Tory MPs wrote to Brady expressing no confidence in Johnson?
It is clear the man is going to have to be dragged from his job, his fingers clawing the despatch box, if he is not forced to resign.

Apparently the Tory whips have said there are no longer an MPs who are prepared to join the government to fill the gaps caused by the resignations
I was under the impression that this would be what would happen. Except for the troops bit. There are a few ex-Russian residences that are currently vacant. Maybe he could be tempted to squat in one of them. It would incur a hefty wallpaper bill though. As the rules stand, nothing I think. The power of the 1922 committee is that they can change the rules, so if it looks overwhelming then they can approach the PM and suggest resigning or they will amend the rules to allow the VoNC. Apparently this happened to May.
If this doesn't happen, I wonder what might occur if the opposition table a no-confidence motion in the PM and it passes. Normally, of course this doesn't happen as it unites the government side and the motion fails. Speculation on twitter is that the Tory party, as the majority, would nominate a new leader and present him/her to the Queen for approval. If Johnson doesn't leave then, I guess the Queen can send in the troops to extract him from no10. I really hope this happens and the last we see of Johnson is him being dragged out of no.10 by his feet towards the Tower of London![]()
