She isn't a working barrister

No, it’s worse than that. She’s the Home Secretary.

Anyway, with luck she’ll get a letter like this one, inviting her to an interview regarding perverting the course of justice.

Good to see the Home Sec using all her experience as a barrister to avoid influencing an ongoing murder trial. Even if some of what she says is true, she should not be seen to be commenting on a live case.

I know everyone is desperate to get stuck into Braverman, but once again the default hatred of the Tories has clouded judgements.

This tweet is not a comment on an ongoing court case, it's a fairly anodyne remark about armed coppers.

It has long been held that while direct comments about a court case should be avoided, general issues raised by a case can still be discussed.

To further cover herself, Braverman is commenting on a Torygraph story about armed coppers going 'on strike', which itself is not a direct comment on the Kaba case.

Well it is a comment on the Kaba case, whether she specifically mentions it or not.

She says "They mustn’t fear ending up in the dock for carrying out their duties", as a response to the police refusing to carry weapons as a direct response to one of their number being charged with murder for shooting Kaba dead.

The implication is that the officer who shot Kaba was "carrying out their duties".

No, it’s a direct response to the start of a murder case, with the strong implication that the officer should not be prosecuted.

Officers risking their lives to keep us safe have my full backing & I will do everything in my power to support them.
Us discussing the issues and forming a view is one thing; as the Home Sec she has a duty to be far more careful in her public pronouncements.

In her defence, I seem to remember that her background was property and contract law, so she may not be acquainted with the expected behaviour re criminal proceedings.

She was the Attorney General.

There were complaints at the time of her appointment that she had almost no relevant experience.
