What I was getting at was the concept of a loving God comes from the same source as the things many here disagree with.
The love of God and the wrath of God are present in both testaments. The irony is that the wrath of God in the NT is being revealed in a society that embraces LGBT. This is itself the judgement, a society abandoned. A breakdown in human relationships that extends to many of the things regularly complained about here such as #metoo or the ethics of the leave campaign and the govt it has sporned.
Slightly sputtering here..
But #metoo is about men abusing their power over women, that's been going on for a very looooong time.
For a long time that kind of behaviour has even been seen as a 'God given right'.
It wasn't really spoken about, objected to, or even seen as 'that' much of a problem..
Diminished, derided, dismissed as 'not that bad'
"She was probably asking for it"
"Oh well, men can't help themselves , when it comes to helping themselves"
Etc etc.
It's only since the loosening of the stranglehold of patriachal religion over society that women have really had the voice, or means , strength or solidarity to start challenging this.
Religion has never been the friend of the woman who believed she should have equal rights or status..
Institutionalised religion has repeatedly covered up, or even colluded in abuse of women and children
