Who said anything about 11 year olds? Some countries have Self-ID for 16 year olds, but you'd have them prevented from medication at that age wouldn't you?

I would certainly question whether under 18's could give informed consent to drugs with irreversible effects for distress that could be resolved in other ways. Big difference between getting a piece of paper and irreversible drugs anyway.

Exploratory therapy is not conversion therapy, anymore than CBT for depression is conversion therapy because it's done in place of SSRI's.

Of course I know that. That's the point - the hypocrisy of Kathleen Stock. All this talk of trans people having fake birth certificates that don't reflect reality. She is in a lesbian relationship. They have a child with the name of the mother, and Stock down as a parent. Wakey, wakey, Stock is not a biological parent of the child as recorded on the birth certificate.

It's only 'biological reality' when it suits.

And what about trans men? You say they are really women. Do they have the same rights to choose what terms are used to describe their relationship to the child? Is Stock fighting for their rights?

Because they've been on a waiting list with no therapy, bombarded with crap from Mermaids etc. that tells them that if they are gender non conforming they might well be the opposite sex.

The parents aren't allowing their kids to do this on a whim. They are doing it because it offers a glimmer of hope for the kids.

It's this nonsense that kids will kill themselves if you don't start them on a medical pathway that leads desperate parents to send their kids down the affirmation and the drugs route. And some homophobic parents would rather have a straight daughter than a gay son.

Nobody who cares about children would consider a drugs pathway better than a therapeutic one.

Hyperbolic nonsense as usual. Nobody in their right mind would deny children access to therapy to resolve mental distress. You need the idea of the 'trans child' to be a real thing rather than what it really is - children with mental distress about their body, which resolves in most cases after puberty.
