I would be interested to know how you feel Brexit influenced the UK response to the invasion of Ukraine? (Excluding the rather obvious that Boris may not have been PM except for Brexit).

Excluding the really important part? Recent events notwithstanding we have a PM who was elected on a single policy, a government which was purged of moderates and a cabinet which was chosen purely for loyalty to their leader. They have no competence or ability bwyond that. That's all there is. They are utterly corrupt, self serving and incompetent.

And for that also the pandemic??

See above but also the pandemic has provided a useful distraction and scapegoat when it should have been nothing of the sort, being as it was, utterly inevitable.

The response to the pandemic by the English government has been absolutely wild. Like, completely all over the place.

To use a personal example, my partner has Covid, and yet under current guidelines has been told it's totally fine for them to go into work. In a massive department store, using public transport and in a huge shopping mall.

Perhaps nothing to do with Brexit, but a pretty clear example of the English government is completely and utterly incompetent.

As for Ukraine, it's basically been a point scoring exercise for the government, trying to prove that they can move quickly without the ties of the EU. Which I suppose in some ways they have, but the absolute cluster*ck of their "Homes for Refugees" thing has proved it's just meaningless posturing.

A couple of weeks ago my wife and kid had covid. I tested negative so had to go to work where they'd just removed the requirement for masking. By that weekend I was also symptomatic and testing positive. Now work are back to wearing masks.

I was cautious and wore a mask but I expect there was a good chance I was infectious with the potential to take down the entire clinical service...

As an aside, see how keen Ukraine are to join the EU. See how Russia are alleged to have interfered in the UK referendum...

Ok. Assuming we had a Government of whom you approved. How should they have supported Ukraine against the Russian Invasion? For now, leave aside the refugee situation.

I notice you said “English” government. Has the outcome in Scotland, Wales or NI been measurably better?

A friend of mine was travelling from Paris to Barcelona, by train, recently. No masks required on train as it left Paris. Several hours later, as the train crossed the Spanish border, a tannoy announcement, requesting the wearing of masks. Joined up thinking at it’s best.

Was it the Government who removed the need for masks at your workplace, or, your employer?

I don't know, I'm a biochemist. Listen to the experts.

Saying that, maybe start by not allowing interference by foreign powers in a domestic referendum, don't ennoble the family members of foreign security service agents, don't hold clandestine meetings with foreign security agents without advisors present, consider energy and economic policy in relation to potentially hostile foreign agents etc etc. Don't enable it in the first place.

You are too modest. Your (self stated) lack of expertise doesn’t normally make you so reticent.

Odd. I hadn’t noticed an England wide Government announcement on NHS staff wearing masks at work. I am fairly sure daughter no1 is still “masking”, but, she is a rebel.

Maybe you don't get the same emails I do.

The whole brexit vote was vague, no matter what side you fell on. Remain candidates couldnt get their points across in a way voters could get in board with and brexit candidates shouted louder….

im welsh, we as a country within the UK voted for brexit, im in the majority within wales and within the UK…i cant just be wrong.
Why not? Have you never made a decision and then after learning something gone "well that was stupid. Wish I hadn't done that".

I agree that the Brexit vote was handled badly with remain failing to challenge leave's lies and brexit breaking electoral law on spending to ensure that they had the biggest voice. I agree that remainers have been saying from the start that it wouldn't work. We are now at the point that the remainers are being proved right in almost every respect.

We can't just keep going forward with "well it's what the people want!". By that token Germans would still be wanting to implement HItler's policies. We learn, we change.

Its only been 2yrs and we had a pandemic in that time……no way anyone can give an accurate picture of brexit, no matters what they say.
