It would appear, nothing.
I’m too cynical to believe that.

The opinion of Cyclechat should be more important than your kid's exam results >:-(
I'm with you, but there may also have been complications around protection. My wages are down by 20% due to the state not being able to provide my children with an education so forgive me if I'm less than sympathetic at Starmer's kid not knowing how to use a library.

That is a calculated value, not a sum of money paid. Alli said you can use my pad. Starmer had to then declare the "value" of having that facility. Alli is a very rich bloke, so his pad is high value.I do get it, in similar circumstances I'd want to be able to give my kid a chance to study but twenty grand?
Another firm agree. My personal take is that in any case it's a symptom of a failure in society and education that we have this emphasis on short term exam performance anyway. But I think I've been fairly clear before about what I see as the shortcomings of the education system and I can't see even radical left wingers such as Starmer and Phillipson changing it to my satisfaction before the time my children have aged out of it.

It’s definitely a security issue.
My daughter went to the same school as Liz Truss’ daughters.
For the very brief period of her being PM the kids came to school with a police escort.
And I attended a parents evening after she resigned and she still had a full escort.
That’s the excuse Starmer gave for taking it.
Why did Alli give it? What does he expect in return?
It would appear, nothing. He became independently wealthy off his own back. He's been a labour party supporter since around 1995 and was made a life peer in 1998. He isn't involved in anything dodgy at all as far as I can see. He uses his wealth to focus on gay rights, youth and education and to support the Labour Party. He appears to have no vested interests at all. It would probably make a Tory MPs head explode.
Aside from the expensive clothing for Starmer and his wife, and for Angela Rayner, Alli has given over £0.5M to the Labour party.
Then, in the first weeks of Labour government he gets a ‘triple A’ pass to be in Downing St for several weeks, attending political meetings.
But, hey, maybe he’s just a concerned voter who’s not interested in any return on his investments.
As I understand it, he made his loot as an investment banker. Not normally a universally popular group of people on this forum, I would have thought?, maybe I am wrong?
