What do you think pays for schools, hospitals, infrastructure etc etc?
Theresa May's magic money tree?
And therein lies the conundrum, while everyone wants good hospitals, schools, roads and public services in general no one in this country wants to pay, why because politicians of all colours have divided the people by blaming one or other sections of society for certainly as long as I have lived.
Why are some of the countries that regularly top the happiest countries in the world list also some of the highest taxed. Why do the multinational companies in these countries not move to avoid tax, well for some it's due to their strong connection to the brand's heritage, the creative culture fostered in the country, and the desire to maintain a close link to the company's roots and loyalty to their workforce, or as one CEO of one of the largest companies put it, “When you have superpowers, you have super responsibility.”
Whereas in this country the majority of the rich (the top 0.0001%) and the people that like to think they are rich (0.1) don't like to pay tax and will do anything to avoid it.
