'Temporarily embarrassed', like all NACA's wannabe right-wing plutocrats almost certainly are, perhaps.

I wouldn't want to be a plutocrat. The wealth on its own is fine, ta 🙂

Although Bobz was wrong in that nobody ever said that all of the millionaires would leave; just enough to mean the 'soak the rich' tactics won't have the desired effect.

Again, hard to disagree with this finely nuanced sentiment in response to Mahmood's suggestion. Why not just give Farage the keys to No.10?

I am starting to get an inkling that Starmer is not a people person.

I do think someone like Burnham is a bit populist himself, with a dash of Trussononics, but he has more charisma than a Weetabix, which is sadly where I rate Starmer's.

Of the loonatic xenophobes or Burnham, I would probably prefer the latter.

I got caught half way to writing loony tunes, before anyone corrects my spelling.

No need for the correction.
How anyone considers the party for high spending and low tax as credible is beyond me.

It would be a weird situation having a PM that isn't an MP though. I know its legally possible but I would think it would make running things quite hard.

I don’t think its allowed in the Labour party?
He needs to resign as Mayor then get selected for a by-election, then get elected, get nominated in a leadership battle, and then win that.

Many commentators saying that Burnham getting elected as an MP in itself would be a fair challenge.Commentators I've heard don't go into great detail but sounding like the main challenge is that the candidate selection process is fairly tightly controlled by Labour Party Head Office and they support Starmer so won't wnat to approve Burnham to stand in bye-election when they know it's to enable him to challenge Starmer. In effect Labour closing ranks around Starmer.

I do feel our system of governance has become too controlled by a few elite in each party eg in Parliament whipping system, treat MPs as "lobby fodder". Similarly I think it should be entirely up to the constituency party to select who will stand as the job is to represent constituents not just do as leader dictates.

Centralisation, control, ever more authoritarianism, more powers delegated to Ministers, etc. seems an ongoing trend and it can help keep those elite in power well past time they should have stepped aside.
