Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
Sorry, the thread seems to have moved rather fast of late.

Haha, that's probably my fault, I've been stuck in with covid and a bit bored.

We all know O’brien can be a little confrontational at times, but this is just a calm dismantling of a caller who has absolutely no
idea what he’s talking about.
It’s a bit sad really.

That caller was thicker than a Boxing Day turd. It has to be a set up. Harvey Price has way more intelligence.

No seriously, I haven't.

If you have managed to go through your whole working life and always been happy with your pay and conditions, that's great. It either shows that there must be some responsible employers out there or that you have been lucky to always have a job in your organisation that was always fairly paid. Others in the same company might not feel the same of course, and there are many employers who aren't willing to pay reasonable wages. For some workers having a union is their only hope of negotiating better pay and conditions. If it weren't for unions and the minimum wage, there are unscrupulous employers who would happily see a return to Victorian work practises.

I have issues with some aspects of the trade union movement, but historically their role in achieving not just decent pay but safe working conditions for ordinary people has been absolutely monumental.
