Brilliant, now everyone will be able to figure out how much I earn, and I will get begging letters from all the poor socialists on here who can only afford to ride bikes and not shop in Waitrose. Thanks a fucking bunch. I will need the 16% pay rise to cover the extra security I will have to have around my house now
Not that I'm interested or bothered to look what you earn....but why would it concern you that those less fortunate want a rise ? Do you not think they deserve it ?
You quoting a figure of 100 odd grand wages doesn't mean a thing.

no this discussion is about striking and craig the cyclist insinuated that a senior nurse on 110k shouldnt get a pay rise of 16%, but is still yet to tell us why??

i mean a chief nurse gets 91k.....so how does a senior nurse get 110k?? im confused

I don't know if you're being deliberately disingenuous but there is a difference between 'senior nurse' which is a job title and 'nurse as senior as you can get' which what we're discussing.

To be fair, the most senior nurses are probably the chief nursing officers for England, Scotland, Wales and NI but I think they fall outside the scope of A4C.

is there, i dont know if there is, i dont work in the NHS....as far as i know as senior as a nurse can get, could mean anything.......but again, what scale are we talking on the agenda for change, which is what you asked me to look at. Because i dont see a grade for " as senior as a nurse can get"....

i mean back in the day that would have been the Matron would it not???

so if thats to be true, then its Chief Nurse...so again, not on 110k a year

I mean Christ alive you're splitting hairs. The point is that it's way over 40k. Do I have to look everything up for you? That's something you routinely decline to do for others. Do you have an actual point to make or are you trolling?

The examples quoted in the A4C document are exactly that; examples.

It's not an exhaustive list of roles. If Civil Service pay is anything to go by there will be some sort of tool (we used JEGS which I think stood for Job Evaluation and Guidance System) which will look at the responsibilities of each role or group of roles and allocate them to a grade and pay band.

Somebody in a job evaluated as Band 9 wouldn't need much in the way of (eg) additions for London or extra responsibility to hit £110k

so you saying

"I think Craig is being deliberately provocative with his claim of 110k and my estimate for 'about as senior a nurse as you can get' would be probably band 8b which is up to about 65k."

This was your exact post....so whos the fecker trolling her, craig or you??

So this band for chief nurse is wrong then?? and craig was right, even though you stated he was being "deliberately provocative"

Goes to show what you are really doesnt it

as for the other point "Do I have to look everything up for you? That's something you routinely decline to do for others" i posted the whole farking agenda....not just a snippet for others too look at....

I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

yes you do.....one minute calling him out on being provocative and now defending what he says.......its called two faced

Strictly speaking he's right that nurses can earn up to band 9, however that's rare which makes it unlikely that the spouse of whoever it was that made the point we're debating is earning that much.

So yes I do think he was being provocative because I think it's more likely that said spouse is somewhere within bands 8b-8c.

I may be wrong on the specifics but the only point I was ever trying to make is that the salary for a nurse in a senior position can exceed 40k by some margin.

Paul said this, which would mean Chief Nurse or Director of Nursing or therabouts. So easily an 8D or a 9. Up to £110,000

I know you all enjoy having a pop at me,

1. No.

2. You're too easy a target. I know you like drawing fire, but give yourself some peace, you're making a right fool of yourself.

You can just say that you were wrong on that specific point and return to the subject of strike action if you like, nobody's gonna think less of you.

Honestly. How many times?

I think that some of the lower paid do deserve a rise, in fact I probably do for what I do and the knowledge I have.

BUT, the RCN leading nurses into this strike is foolhardy and unwinnable. It seems pages ago now that I said nurses striking seems like a great idea, right up until someone who shouldn't have died dies, and if they happen to be a baby we are truly screwed. Any goodwill will vanish like a morning mist. Like some other occupations, nurses should not strike.

I think they would get more support if nurses simply refused to treat any MPs until they all get together and sort out the pay?

I could be wrong here but when Nurses strike, they do tend to ensure that critical care is still supported.
