You know high dependency wards won't be left unstaffed so why keep pushing that narrative?

I know they won't be left unstaffed, they will be staffed differently though, and the support they get from the rest of the hospital will be less as services ITU relies on will be on Christmas Day/night rotas.

Like I said, if you think a hospital is staffed the same 24/7 365 you are deluded. There is a lot less support from other teams, diagnostics etc at night and over Christmas. That will impact ITU, surgery, ED, CCU, SCBU, trauma, burns units, psychiatry......

Not surprised at all.

Despite all the flak I got at the time on the P&O thread, I told you all that no-one would really give a toss about the sacked sailors and would carry on using P&O anyway because they are convenient and cheap.
Lots of you said people would vote with their feet and not use P&O ferries or their parent company shipping.

Well one of us was right eh?
Is that something to be proud of ? You do remember your Tory Government and Grant Schapps about the P&O situation saying they were taking legal action and they weren't fit to run a buisness.
But you were right 🙄

Not proud exactly, but I think it shows which one of us sees things through red tinted glasses, and which one of us actually lives in the real world. Government action aside, my point was always that 'the population' doesn't care enough about 800 random people they don't know to pay anymore than is necessary to get across the channel. DP World made that calculation, had the clout to pay any fine and simply brassed it out. We can only assume that their Chief Exec is not on NACA so did not realise quite how angry several of you were. I mean, I am sure if they realised that a teacher in Hong Kong was planning a complete boycott of anything they transported (despite not actually knowing what was transported by DP World) they would have reviewed their decision!

@Mr Celine is one person who did not use P&O (who did you use out of interest?), clearly his refusal to use P&O didn't quite carry enough weight.

Look I'm not that blinkered we've voted the Tories in again and again, not actually a caring society are we ? Rather than clamping down on corporate greed & defending workers, the Tories are busy competing to undermine workers' rights even more!

I doubt that...but now you ask I didnt ! Hardly going to bring them down, but my concience is clear.

So far as the Dover Straight is concerned the choice is P&O, Irish Ferries or DFDS.

Part of P&O's justification for the sackings was that its competitor was already using foreign crews paid below UK rates. That competitor is Irish Ferries.

There is also the three P's though. P&O are not the only show in town when it comes to crossing the Channel.

Normally we'd have gone with P&O Hull - Zeebrugge and return the same route.

This year we went out with DFDS Newcastle - Amsterdam and return via Eurotunnel.

Hull - Zeebrugge used to be considerable cheaper (I don't know about this year, I never looked as I wasn't going to be going with P&O), gave a shorter drive and an earlier start in Europe, the only downside being a longer drive in the UK.

P&O are a tiny tiny tiny part of the DP World operation and will have so far had zero to contribute in profit since the earlier unpleasantness of the sackings.

They own a lot of major ports among other interests and this is where the profits are from.

The story is not what it seems.

I know but there's no harm in a bit of negative publicity.
