At what point to you think it's justified to strike ? Not being able to heat your home or eat properly,or should those people leave their chosen profession and seek employment somewhere else, use food banks ?
How many nurses have left this year,is it something like over 30,000 ? There's plenty of money, feck ! how much have this goverment wasted recently.Covid loans and fraud alone. Its a political choice not to pay them what they deserve.

30,000 sounds a lot, but, it is approximately 1% of the nurse workforce. Not remarkable IMHO.

Not remarkable 🙄
"An analysis by the Nuffield Trust think tank for the BBC has revealed that more than 40,000 Nurses left the NHS last year. That equates to one in nine of the entire workforce"

I accept, you did say “over”, but, whilst to say “over 30,000”, to mean 40,000 is a trifle misleading. IMHO.

Difficult to find comparable figures, since there are not many examples with workforces the size of the NHS workforce.

I said over with a question mark....if your that interested why not try a search engine and look for yourself.
Wouldn't want to "mislead you"

It strikes me that a sustainable service level needs a sustainable wage. The NHS nurses shortfall make it strikingly clear that we're far below that level. No one wants to be in hospital waiting for the nurse that now works at Aldi, or has gone to work in other sustainable health systems in other countries. So strike it is.

I did search for total nursing workforce, but, made the mistake of assuming your figures were reliable

Where did I quote the total number of nurses in the UK ?
My first estimate of 30,000 leaving was a estimate hence the question mark, the second figure of 40,000 leaving was from a article I read.
You got it wrong....again.

My maths might be letting me down, but if 30,000 is 1% then the total number of NHS nurses is 3M? That seems... a lot since I recall total number of NHS staff at a bit over 1M.

I think 30,000 is closer to being 10% but haven't checked figures.

Where did you search for total nursing workforce? It is 360,000 not 3 million.

We went to school at the same time, in the good old days before calculators, and the way I was taught meant that 1% of 360,000 is 3,600 not 30,000.

40,000 is approx 11% of 360,000.

A bit of a difference, and significant in a job which has a long training/qualification period.

The biggest proportion of leavers by far are those nurses aged 25 - 34.

Edit: @stowie beat me to it.

It is worth pointing out that the government needs support in their mission to ban strikes.
I doubt there is any better opportunity than a NHS strike.
