Mrs B and I went to an exhibition of Banksy work today. - Almost entirely prints and covering a much wider range of topics than gains general press attention. Quite interesting and thought provoking.

I have no idea. Sometimes they fight back.

Set aside ten minutes and watch this. It is incredible.
Astonishing. You’re right, ten minutes well spent.

Something nasty in the woodshed
I just came to this on YouTube yesterday, having never heard of the guy before.

Set aside ten minutes and watch this. It is incredible.

Came across this as a random recommendation on another forum the other day. What a remarkable artist & piece of music. Going to be lazy & copy/paste what I said there:

A unique, exceptional talent and a powerful, moving piece of music.

I'm cynical by nature and as a musician, when listening I tend to be analytical first and reactive a distant second. I've never previously heard of Ren and as such have no idea what, if any, mental health issues he actually has - the 'I'm really mad, me' thing has been a trope in music since forever, in my own listening going back to Alice Cooper's Ballad Of Dwight Frye, from 1971. So watching this - an incredibly meticulously composed and structured piece of music, very, very clearly painstakingly rehearsed for it to have been performed like this (I'm fairly sure it's been recorded live) - I am quite gobsmacked to have been so profoundly emotionally affected by it. At this point I don't think I want to watch it again, in case repetition dilutes the impact it had.

There's a lot I can identify with on a personal level - massive, often debilitating self-doubt has been a constant in my own musical journey, and I've struggled with depression, anxiety and low self-esteem my entire life. Not sure what point - if any - I'm trying to make, just glad to have seen it.

Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
Considering that two days ago I'd never heard of him I've gone all in and I'm fully invested. He's astonishingly good, both his solo music and the silly fun stuff he does busking with his band. If you watch the reaction videos on YouTube he's commenting on them all and thanking everyone. He's in Canada right now for specialist care but still managed to release the first song from his new album last night, he says he's got enough new music queued up for release to see him through his treatment programme.

And yeah, his videos are all done live, single takes.
