Honestly, I'm just waiting for him to post something on Truth Social that causes him to spend some time in Jail. He can't help but incriminate himself and ignore legal advice.
Or his carers / children are vetting everything he tries to do...Almost as if he is cleverer than he seems - or possibly just very cunning

Epstein, to a certain extent Hitler, Putin and a few more in that list are/where sadly clever but certainly also nasty. But Trump and clever is not really the good word, clearly he is not stupid, but clever is giving him a lot more credit then he is due. I mean if he would be clever he would have called his what was it Mar-la-go house to tell them to ''make the secret documents dissapear'' he would instead found a way off delivering that message more covert. (to give an example)Is it incompatible to be nasty and clever?

No, but Trump has never demonstrated any cleverness. Every business venture he has gone into has lost money. The reason is isn't broke is that he is a useful idiot, prepared to take anyone's cash, and that if you start with a *lot* of money, everyone around you will try to preserve that cash for their own benefit. Is it incompatible to be nasty and clever?

No - he was egotistical enough. A clever man would have realised that being elected President would shove all his crimes and misdeeds into the spotlight and invite investigations into his business practices which could bring him down, bankrupt him, destroy his "reputation" and end up with a lengthy jail term.He was clever enough to be elected as leader of the 'free world'.

He didn't get there by being stupid. Clever is not the same as wise or knowledgeable.
