Should we start digging holes in our gardens and lining shelters with lead?
That's what our rulers want us to think. But, if you give up some personal freedoms, they'll see to it that we're kept safe.

Militarily prepare to stand up and be counted.
Rapidly deploy in large numbers within striking distance then don't pander to him. He cannot be allowed to think he can threaten or invade the likes of Ukraine because he wants to. Sanctions are all well and good, but it's water of a ducks back once he's in Kiyv....
Not at all. Nato has the capability and Putin doesn't want the cost. We shouldn't make it easy for him to roll his tanks over borders at will.Against Russia ?? Are you mad ??

If Nato can't then it's a busted flush. Putin understands Nato has the capability but lack the will.

Flat feet and too old....Yeah , you are crazy. I'm guessing your boots won't be first on the ground.

Although it is almost impossible to know what his real aims are, Putin knows full well that NATO will not directly intervene because Ukraine is not a member. IMO it may be, because of the stakes in terms of deaths and potential escalation, that it is a price the West, and more importantly, the unfortunate people of the Ukraine will have to pay, but we in the West will never be able to look the people of the Ukraine in the eyes again without a justified feeling of shame.Against Russia ?? I'd agree with the first part of this sentence, however, I'd add to the second part that the willingness of the UK and the US, and others too I'm sure, to launder and pander to Russian money and influence puts the blame as much with the West as it does with Putin. The world has become a much more unpredictable and dangerous place but the blame for this in recent years rests on Putin's Russia imo.
That is one of the things that I should have put as a price that has to be paid, alongside reliance on gas. Our avarice and weakness has encouraged Putin to literally push the boundaries, and to turn Russia into a country, as bad or even worse than the West, where the overwhelming wealth of the country is in the hands of a few.I'd agree with the first part of this sentence, however, I'd add to the second part that the willingness of the UK and the US, and others too I'm sure, to launder and pander to Russian money and influence puts the blame as much with the West as it does with Putin.
I didn't say I like it, but I think it's necessary
