Usual police/media codewords for what will almost certainly turn out to be a family annihilation - a man executing his wife and child before killing himself.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64533429

I realise they can't actually detail precisely what happened at this stage, but wouldn't it be nice if, for once, they held back from publishing the sort of photos that suggest a harmonious family unit and the sort of text that reads like a soft obituary for the killer as well as the victims?

Turns out it was the woman's fault after all...

So Nicola Bulley has been found.
The police have been vindicated in their original hypothesis, but no one except the family come out of this looking good.
The police investigation has been poor, the under water search expert seemed far too happy to be the centre of attention and throw around confident predictions and silly comments to the press.
But yet again the Great British press have soiled themselves. Not just the stupid YouTube podcasters but the main stream media have been too happy to push this story to the front pages.
The family have even named the agencies that contacted them yesterday despite being told not too.
When will they learn?

C4 News: Former Acting Met Commissioner facing investigation over alleged comments that many rape complaints were “regretful sex”. Bit late now, but might account for the lack of action over the behaviour of some Met officers in the past.

Depressingly, I'm unsurprised .

With attitudes like this, still going around, you can see why so many women don't even bother to report rape, and assault.

Who are we supposed to trust??

House replaced Dick and he doesn’t believe most women who report rapes are victims of sexual assault ffs..and this was after Couzens and whilst Carrick was in custody.
He needs sacking but we know that won't happen,at the very least demoted and stripped of his rank.

Changing the bod at the top might make some symbolic difference in some peoples eyes.

But anyone considered senior enough for the top job will have risen through the ranks of an institution that has repeatedly shown a very poor attitude towards women.

They'll have spent decades, if not actively joining in with the misogynistic 'locker room chat' then at least ignoring it, in order to 'fit in'

Anyone steeped in that 'culture' for that long will most likely have become somewhat inured to it all.

Seems to me that reform far more fundamental than just changing the commissioner is needed.

Blimey. I always thought “non-violent rape” Paley, fotp, was a court usher or scribbler. Now it seems he might secretly have been a Met AC.

Would that his attitudes were unusual, or outside of 'the norm'.

Sadly they're still all too prevalent.

You even get whiffs of it on here.

But it's so 'baked in' that it generally goes unremarked.
