I know there is a certain irony that the cow was probably destined for slaughter, but it’s not nice seeing it being run over.

The calf's not dead. It's recovering. I know people get trampled by herds of cows but it was on its own so not sure what the need was to ram it. Quite a few farmers on social media saying it wouldn't have been a big deal for them to round it up as they often escape.

Not like it was a bull with horns.

No doubt it could have been dealt with more humanely, but, IMHO, the farmer’s line is similar to the dog owners who parrot the “wouldn’t hurt a fly, great with children” line about some out of control dog.
