I also know people who vote for the local candidate because they get positive coverage in the local press.

The national picture is of little interest to them.

That too, and, possibly if they have personal experience of good treatment/support from their MP, regardless of his party affiliation.

Latest I have seen says that Suella is being sidelined so they can loosen the rules for foreign workers to come over and do the jobs they used to do
because businesses are suffering due to lack of migrant labour
and 'we' need businesses to be able to make money so the country can grow

and anyone saying otherwise is part of the "anti growth coalition"
