Why would you think Putin has spare resources to attack ANOTHER country?
Thinking about possibilities rather than probabilities.

If Trump does even close to what he's been repeatedly declaring he will then he'll be seeing an end Putin's efforts in Ukraine. Which, given Russian economy is already on a war footing opens up new possibilities.

Do we need to worry about that? He's already using prisoners and North Koreans as cannon fodder. Surely the real worry is Nuclear escalation.

Maybe "worrying" is too strong a word. For me I'd previously always quickly dismissed the idea that Putin would be attacking a NATO country. The idea has been raised a fair amount, often in the context that Ukraine's fight is to keep Europe safe from Putin (thereby justifying the costs of arming them).

But now I can see a possible way where it could happen ie my previous quick dismissal of the idea now has a possible question in my mind.

Listening to podcasts this morning and an interesting and concerning thought. I consider Putin has demonstrated the limitations of Russian military and thus would never attack a NATO country as if he's struggling in Ukraine, taking on the NATO "Collective defence" would be a non-starter.
War is not their first weapon, they start with trying to divide and conquer, in Ukraine it started in 2014 (the most visible example of his proxy war the actual conflict was earlier)
But worrying thought is Trump and if Trump starts weakening NATO of suggesting he'd not honour the Collective defence, then Putin might take the opportunity to attack a Baltic country is see which NATO members would actually honour their obligations. Maybe an initial small attack to test the response before deciding about further territory grabs.

Not suggesting I think it would happen, just maybe the risks are now higher than I'd previously thought.

It's more of an idea than an actual threat because even without the US it's not like the Russians will be in Berlin tommorow, but if europe with a NATO force with really want to they can be in Moscow maybe not tommorow but fairly quickly.

that is actually an big unknown Nuclear weapons are very expensive to maintain, it might just be that Russia's military threat of Nuclear weapons is the fact they claim to have them and have them ready. If they would actually be able to successfully launch one is questionable.

They're a coalition of both radical and moderate groups but apparently led by an ex al Qaeda affiliate so I'm guessing the money and guns is coming from there mostly. Depressing news though, with the bloodshed unlikely to remain confined to non civilians.

Some outlets now suggesting Assad has already fled to Russia. Rebel groups pushing towards Damascus. Very worrying if these groups are Islamist fundamentalists and Syria ends up swapping one dictatorship for another.

Sir Keir was evasive when asked if It Was The Cyclists Fault:
Reacting to Kirillov's death, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's official spokesman said: "Clearly we are not going to mourn the death of an individual who has propagated an illegal invasion and imposed suffering and death on the Ukrainian people."

I’m impressed how well it has survived the blast.

I've read a twitter thread on how they could have used a Claymore (i.e. exact same spec as used in Vietnam) and the shaped charge might have created this blast pattern. [which is what led me to look up a "mainstream" news site]

(Yes I do mainly use twitter for anti-personnel arms porn.)
